Petfinder.com offers a free online search service to help you find the perfect pet waiting for you in a shelter or foster home.
Adopt A Boxer Rescue finds homes for Boxers (and honorary Boxers like Susan’s pug mix, Piggens) in the Northeast. They also have a great web site featuring some of the cutest dog pictures in cyperspace.
Waggy Tail Rescue takes dogs out of the New York City Shelter and fosters and finds them homes. Most Waggy Tails are small dogs whose owners no longer want to or are able to care for them. Moe, Susan’s Chihuahua, was adopted from Waggy Tail.
The New York City Animal Shelter website offers important information about spay/neuter programs, the lost dog list, and dog licensing. the city shelter is full of great dogs looking for homes.
Pets Alive, located in the Catskills in Middletown, NY houses hundreds of homeless animals. This shelter is currently being aided by Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. This is a wonderful place to adopt a new dog or to volunteer.
